MISSION STATEMENT

Sacred Heart strives to inspire its members to good works through active celebration of the Holy Sacraments and prayer, in particular, Perpetual Adoration.

WORD: Proclaiming the Word of God in our daily lives and actions on a parish-wide basis.

Primary Goal: To monitor the growth of the parish through analysis of Mass attendance, Sunday School attendance, and participation in the sacraments for the purpose of anticipating parish needs.

Measurement Criterion: A comparison of attendance figures for the past five to ten years.

Secondary Goal: A. To offer Adult Education programs in religious and social subjects that give our parishioners an opportunity to improve their knowledge of our faith and social teachings of the church.

Secondary Goal: B. To develop a separate Junior Youth Group for seventh and eighth grades.

Measurement Criterion: A group functioning on a regular basis by November 2007.

Secondary Goal: C. To foster the role of parents as primary educators of their children.

Measurement Criterion: Develop at least three new programs that include parental participation by December 2007.

WORSHIP: Praise and celebration.

Primary Goal: A. Foster the spiritual growth of the parishioners.

Measurement Criterion: Attendance at Mass, participation in the Sacraments, and prayer, including Perpetual Adoration.

Primary Goal: B. In addition to publishing weekly listings, prepare a semi-annual list of the number of parishioners who have received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage.

Secondary Goal: To increase participation in Perpetual Adoration through personal interaction and initially with new parishioners at the time of registering in the parish, joining parish organizations, and receiving the sacraments.

SERVICE: A demonstrated ministry to the members of the parish and to reach out to the inactive, the fallen away, and all who are in need of God’s loving mercy.

Primary Goal: To assist needy families and individuals in our community and county by helping them with some of the basic necessities of life, either directly or in conjunction with other parish and/or local organizations.

Secondary Goal: A. To encourage and support, financially and otherwise, religious and lay missionaries from our church and the Church at large in the evangelization of all peoples.

Secondary Goal: B. Develop a program to reach out and welcome into Sacred Heart Parish, those military personnel, both active and retired, and their families, who reside in Moore County in order to provide for both their spiritual and material requirements.

ADMINISTRATION: Responsible stewardship of parish funds, properties, assets and resources.

OPERATIONS

Primary Goal: To assemble a team to evaluate the growth projections and make recommendations to the Pastor and Finance Council for future expansion in order to project space planning, facility management, and the purchase of real estate within the next five years.

FISCAL

Primary Goal: To increase the parishioners knowledge of the financial scope of parish activities and all the organizations operating under its "umbrella", i.e., those organizations and individuals using the facilities and resources of the parish.

Measurement Criterion: Semiannual Publication of the parish financial report.

Secondary goal: A. To increase the level of annual giving through the regular reminders of stewardship opportunities.
Secondary Goal: B. To put in place a Planned Giving Program that encourages major gifts by bequests and trust.

MISSION: Reaching out with words and actions; witnessing God’s love and mercy; and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout the whole world.

WORLD MISSION

Primary Goal: A. To continue to increase our awareness, as a Parish, of the needs of the Church in world Mission world by celebrating in a grand style Mission Sunday each October.

Measurement Criterion: Inviting a speaker at all Masses to promote World Mission Sunday on October 21, 2007.

Primary Goal: B. To continue our Parish experience as a "sending church" by raising funds to send Sacred Heart emissaries on a continuing mission to visit Uganda and to an additional mission country in the year 2008.

HOME MISSION

Primary Goal: To assist the members of San Juan Diego Mission as it meets its needs for Catechesis, stewardship, parish and financial planning, budgeting and fund raising to enable it to become financially and institutionally independent as a parish in its own right.
