The night before Jesus was to be crucified, Our Lord said to
the Apostles, "Could you not watch one hour with me?”
Instead of accepting Christ's invitation, the Apostles fell asleep.
Since the Sacred Heart Perpetual Adoration Chapel opened in December 1994,
hundreds of individuals have responded to Christ's invitation and have become
committed adorers. There is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours every
day, except during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Everyone is invited to spend
time with Jesus as an adorer, co-adorer, or substitute adorer. Catholic or
non-Catholic, rich or poor, he calls us all. Would you be willing to spend one
hour or more each week watching with Christ?
What is an Adorer?
What is a co-adorer?
For the many new parishioners and those interested in knowing more about our Adoration Chapel; we are one of only two parishes in the Diocese of Raleigh that have a Perpetual Adoration Chapel. A Perpetual Adoration Chapel exposes the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours a day, seven days a week, (except for Masses) and is attended by individuals at all times. Every individual is an “Adorer” and in most times there are at least two people, hence, “co-adorers”. Many adorers are couples and many are singles so sometimes there may be more than two people assigned to the Chapel at one time. We always try to have more than one Adorer assigned to a time so that if for any reason one can’t keep their appointment the other will.

What is expected of
me if I agree to be an Adorer?
You are expected to arrive at your scheduled time and to
remain present in the chapel until the next person(s) arrives, one hour later.
You can read the Bible, a prayer book, religious articles; pray the rosary; say
other prayers, talk to Jesus or just sit and listen. Meditate. Think. Be
respectful of the Sacred Area you are in. We ask that you take back home the
items you brought in, leaving the Chapel
as you found it.
